Barn Progress!

I am a little late with this post. I will try to post every Friday, but if not it will be one a week. This is my post for last week. Bear with me while I get in a rhythm!

Things are starting to cool off down here, which has gotten the animals feeling good! I know I am enjoying it! This past week, me and my dad (mostly my dad lol) worked on dropping the main support posts on the barn extension down another 2-2.5 feet into the ground. When me and my brother did it, we only put them 2 feet in the ground without thinking about it, so they definitely needed to be deeper.

Once we got done with that, we put tin on the lean-to part for the chickens. A friend of mine was able to give me some scrap tin from his father-in-law's house, and from that I was able to cover 4 of my 6 runs for free! Free is always nice. Well, usually... In this case it really was nice! I also started making roosts for the runs, and I was able to make 3 of them yesterday.

With the construction going on at the barn, I haven't let the horses be back there because I didn't want them getting hurt by anything. Well, since me and my dad were back there all week, I let the horses be in the back pasture during the day so we could watch them while we worked. They absolutely LOVED it! It's been months since they have been back there, so the side pasture and yard were super short while the back pasture had grown up a lot. When I get done with the fencing in the next couple of days, I will be putting them back there full time to let the side pasture and yard grow up some.

That pretty much concludes this week! It has been a busy one, but we made a lot of progress! I finally feel like I am over the hump and headed down the final stretch with this barn project. Here are some pictures of how we pulled the posts out of the ground and the difference it made!

The progress looks amazing! How did you make roosts? Whenever I've made roosts they're basically sticks of wood that are propped inside the coop? Were your roosts sticks of wood or were they stand alone roosts, if that makes sense?
